Warning to British tourists: the well-known club Sansibar Hannover is not a safe place for a night out.
On 14 September 2025, an incident occurred that shocked the city. Witnesses and recordings show that so-called security staff attacked peaceful guests who neither resisted nor acted aggressively. The violence even continued outside the venue, on public ground in front of the club.
One witness was forced, under threat, to unlock their phone so that evidence could be deleted – behaviour amounting to robbery. Another visitor who tried to film the events was brutally beaten. According to further testimony, pepper spray or another paralysing agent was also used against one victim. The use of such substances by unlicensed individuals is illegal in Germany and poses a serious health risk.
There are strong suspicions that the club has close ties to organised crime. The area is frequently populated by individuals from criminal circles, and the number of violent incidents requiring police intervention or hospital treatment is rising. It is also unclear whether the supposed “security staff” have valid licences under German law (§ 34a GewO).
Guest reviews online confirm this pattern of violence. One visitor wrote: “My friend was punched in the face for no reason. We hope the police close this club.” Another added: “We felt threatened the entire night; the bouncers seemed ready to attack us at any moment.”
⚠️ Conclusion and Recommendation
The Sansibar Hannover is a dangerous venue, where guests and tourists risk becoming victims of brutal violence at any moment. The use of pepper spray and repeated attacks show that this is not about isolated incidents, but a systematic problem.
Until German authorities step in and revoke the club’s licences, British travellers should heed one clear piece of advice:
👉 Avoid Sansibar Hannover, and be extremely cautious when enjoying Hanover’s nightlife.
